Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner Qualification

Job description

We are seeking a friendly, enthusiastic, and dedicated individual to join our ophthalmology theatres. The ideal candidate must be a registered nurse or Operating Department Practitioner (ODP), with previous ophthalmic experience preferred. Excellent communication skills are essential, as the role involves daily interaction with multidisciplinary colleagues, where achieving positive results is crucial. Strong personal and organizational skills are key attributes for this position. Additionally, the ability to supervise and coach staff, along with a commitment to delivering the highest standards of patient care and service, is necessary.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Establish high standards of pre-, peri-, and post-operative clinical care.
  2. Contribute to maintaining high standards of practice and clinical skills across the service.
  3. Coordinate clinical activities and develop clinical expertise through leadership.
  4. Assist in the smooth operation and organization of the shift team.
  5. Rotate through the Ophthalmology Department to ensure comprehensive experience.
  6. Ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care and take appropriate action if standards are not met.
  7. Participate in the organization and delivery of both formal and informal teaching sessions.
  8. Engage in activities and projects that promote evidence-based practice.
  9. Provide health education and advice to patients.
