Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Theatre Practitioner to join our busy theatre team. This role supports a 24/7 elective and emergency service across ENT, Maxillofacial, Trauma & Orthopaedics, General Surgery, Urology, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Plastic Surgery and Breast Surgery.

Job summary

This role is open to internal applicants only. Join our dynamic theatre team offering a 24/7 elective and emergency service across a wide range of specialties, including ENT, Maxillofacial, Trauma & Orthopaedics, General Surgery, Urology, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Plastic Surgery, and Breast Surgery. Many of our ODPs are dual-skilled, giving you the chance to work both anaesthetically and surgically. If you are experienced, confident, and ready for a new challenge, we want to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

The post holder is expected to work closely with all disciplines to ensure the promotion of high standards for all patients requiring all aspects of peri operative care, following appropriate training encompassing a variety of specialities. The role of the nurse/operating department practitioner is to provide a holistic, high quality, patient focused, comprehensive, efficient and safe service for the patients cared for at Kettering General Hospital. Acting with responsibility, accountability and integrity, reporting adverse events and poor practice to the person in charge. The nurse/operating department practitioner would be expected to use resources and engage in change and service improvements effectively and responsibly. The post holder will always act in accordance with the NMC code/HCPC and local standards of care and policies.

  • NMC Registered Nurse/HCPC ODP diploma/degree level *
  • Management or Leadership Qualification
  • Previous recent experience of working within the surgical/theatre environment
