Job summary

Circle Health Group’s Ross Hall Hospital in Glasgow is seeking a Theatre Practitioner to join a dedicated team. This full-time role offers 37.5 hours per week on a permanent basis, with a salary up to £35,500 depending on experience and qualifications.

You will assist the surgical team, maintain sterility, support the anaesthetist, and monitor patients before discharge. The role requires registration with NMC or HCPC and theatre experience, with a commitment to infection control and patient

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Prepare instruments, maintain sterility, and anticipate surgeon needs.
  • Support anaesthetist with equipment preparation, patient monitoring, airway management and positioning.
  • Provide postoperative care and monitor vital signs, pain, and discharge readiness.
  • Set up operating theatres according to surgery type and patient requirements.
  • Check equipment prior to use and report faults.
  • Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe surgical lists.
  • Maintain a positive, respectful theatre environment.

Salary: Up to £35,500.00 per year (depending on level of experience, training and qualification)


Ross Hall Hospital in Glasgow is part of Circle Health Group, Britain's leading provider of independent healthcare with a nationwide network of hospitals & clinics, performing more complex surgery than any other private healthcare provider in the country.


We have an opportunity for a Theatre Practitioner to join their team of staff.


This is a full-time role for 37.5 hours a week. The role holder will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern.


Duties of this role include:


  • Assist the surgical team by preparing instruments, maintaining sterility, anticipating surgeon needs, and ensuring equipment safety; support the Anaesthetist in equipment preparation, patient monitoring, airway management, and positioning; and provide post-operative care, monitoring vital signs, managing pain and nausea, and ensuring patient readiness for discharge.

  • Adhere to infection prevention and control policies and procedures at all times.

  • Set up operating theatres according to surgery type and specific patient requirements.

  • Check all surgical and anaesthetic equipment prior to use and report faults immediately.

  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to achieve safe and efficient surgical lists

  • Support and contribute to a positive, respectful, and efficient theatre environment.


Applicants should meet the following criteria:


  • Registered Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC).

  • Experience or training in a theatre environment specialising in scrub, anaesthetics, or recovery.

  • Understanding of infection control, manual handling, and patient safety principles.

  • Ability to work under pressure, problem-solve, and respond quickly to changes in a dynamic environment.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and commitment to safe surgical practice.
