Job summary

Derbyshire Support and Facilities Services Limited (DSFS) is seeking a Theatre Porter to support the Operating Theatres. You will transport patients, assist with moving and handling, and help prepare theatre trolleys while maintaining clean and safe spaces throughout the hospital.

The role requires caring conduct, good communication, and teamwork within a multidisciplinary environment, with a 37.5-hour week, in Chesterfield. DSFS emphasises flexible working options where feasible.

Qualifications

• Basic numeracy and literacy skills required.
• Qualifications relevant to care profession (e.g. NVQ/QCF awards).
• Customer Care Course/ Qualification required.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients between wards, theatre areas and PACU.
• Transfer patients between beds and operating tables.
• Prepare and check theatre trolleys for use.
• Assist with cleaning and maintain trolley storage areas.
• Monitor medical gas cylinders and replace when needed.
• Provide a messenger/delivery service within the department.
• Collect and transfer specimens to Pathology Laboratory as directed.
• Collect blood and items from other departments as required.
• Move equipment belonging to the department from wards.
• Demonstrate a caring manner and assist with moving patients as needed.
