NHS is seeking a dedicated individual to join the Alder Hey Children's Hospital team in a role focused on patient and goods transportation across departments. Responsibilities include maintaining sterile conditions and supporting clinical staff in ensuring high patient care standards. This permanent, part-time position requires good communication skills and basic IT proficiency.
Job summary
To provide a safe & effective transportation service for patients and goods between theatres and other departments in the trust.
To provide support to the anaesthetic, theatre and recovery teams in delivering high standards of patient care and experience.
Main duties of the jobMaintain and clean patient theatre trolley's in accordance with the SOP
Provide a clog wash service to the theatre department
Be aware of and adhere to trust policies and procedures at all times: Health and Safety, COSHH, Fire, Lifting and handling and Security Regulations
Collect and sign for blood products from main laboratory and transport to theatre
Completion of safety and cleaning checklists
Carry out routine checking of specimens and deliver specimens to Histopathology, Haematology and Bacteriology etc. in a timely fashion.
Account for blood placed in fridge
Undertake duties to support the massive haemorrhage team, carrying the bleep and responding accordingly
Support the decontamination team outside of their normal working hours
Provide support to the materials management team, as and when required
Communicate effectively with ward/theatre staff including answering telephones and bleeps
Ensure corridors are free from hazards and debris maintaining a safe environment for staff, public and patients
Any other reasonable management request
