Job summary

The Ambassador Theatre Group is recruiting a Theatre Manager for Sunderland Empire on a fixed term contract to 30 September 2027. You will work with the Theatre Director and Heads of Departments to deliver the venue’s business plan and targets, ensuring a safe, high-quality guest experience for audiences, production teams and staff.

Reporting to the Theatre Director, you will oversee day-to-day venue operations, manage budgets and costs, drive commercial opportunities, and lead a team while

Qualifications

  • Experience of managing performance and developing a team to achieve its goals.
  • Ability to meet ambitious commercial objectives within agreed timescales.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience of working within a budget and overseeing cost control.
  • Good IT literacy with the ability to learn new software and systems.

Responsibilities

  • Set the strategic direction in partnership with the Theatre Director and deputise when required.
  • Commit to attainment and exceeding targets and encourage others to follow.
  • Oversee venue operation, maximise commercial opportunities while controlling costs.
  • Assist with budgets and monthly statements, reporting variances and reforecasting.
  • Support venue administration including payroll, purchase orders and settlements.
