Theatre Manager for University Hospital of Wales Theatres
The post-holder will ensure optimal use of theatres in relation to booked operating sessions and availability to meet the demands of elective and emergency work by overseeing the day-to-day service management issues, liaising with departments and teams as required. The post holder will be a key source of clinical advice and support to the Directorate, Clinical Board and Executive teams and will provide strong leadership and direction to all staff across the service and act as a point of contact for advice and expertise relating to professional issues.
Lead the department to achieve compliance against performance measures (finance, activity, and quality) providing advice, analysis and information as required. You will also be required to manage a developing and changing service, demonstrating an understanding of the implications of developing new ideas and ways of working and mitigating these with a 'can do' attitude encouraging staff to do likewise. You will need to maximise the use of resources by prioritising cost pressures and contribute to the delivery of the department's efficiency targets. Support the General Manager in the effective running of Theatre information systems, for example Theatre Man, Consultant electronic system, also ensuring that the information contained within the systems are accurate and reports are meaningful. You will also be responsible for good governance of the department by supporting and promoting the development and implementation of services, that reflects the principles of clinical governance.
