Job description
Overview

An exciting Band 7 Theatre Lead vacancy has become available supporting Anaesthetics and Recovery services within Cardiothoracic Theatres at Wythenshawe Hospital. This position is for an enthusiastic lead covering Cardiac, Thoracic, Transplant and Catheter Lab responsibility encompassing the on call out of hours services providing a 24/7 Emergency Service.

The post is for a motivated and driven Nurse / ODP to ensure the best quality of Anaesthetic care is provided to our very busy Cardiothoracic theatre department. CTT have expanded and now run 8 theatres Monday to Friday on a single site within MFT; this has led to a large recruitment drive which is now complete. The successful applicant will oversee any further recruitment of anaesthetic staff members and have an oversight of any educational requirement for the team.

MFT at the Wythenshawe site (WTWA) is a major acute teaching hospital recognised as a centre of clinical excellence and provides a wide range of health services as part of the largest NHS Trust in the UK.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and support Cardiac, Thoracic, Transplant and Catheter Lab anaesthetic services, including on-call out-of-hours duties for a 24/7 Emergency Service.
  • Collaborate with Band 7 Theatre Scrub Leads in Thoracic and Cardiac Theatres; cross-cover and team collaboration across all areas.
  • Oversee recruitment of anaesthetic staff and manage educational requirements for the team.
  • Manage governance for Anaesthetics, including incidents and complaints; maintain and improve department Accreditation, IQP and CQC standards.
  • Provide clinical leadership and act as a point of escalation for quality and safety in the department.
  • Motivate staff, demonstrate strong organisational, communication and leadership skills, and uphold high standards of patient care.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Applicants must be a qualified ODP or Anaesthetic Nurse.
  • Minimum 2 years Band 6 experience in anaesthetics.
  • Significant experience in Cardiac and/or Thoracic theatre and the demands of anaesthetics within these specialties.
  • Ability to motivate individuals and work effectively in a multidisciplinary team; clinically active role with possible on-call duties.
