Job summary

Nottingham Playhouse is seeking a proactive Facilities and Maintenance Technician to join the team and help keep our Grade II* listed building safe and welcoming for staff, visitors and performers.

You will undertake planned and reactive maintenance, identify hazards, and support compliance checks while using Trello to track tasks and work with contractors. A practical, hands-on approach and enthusiasm for a busy public venue are essential.

Qualifications

  • Experience undertaking planned and reactive maintenance safely and to a good standard.
  • Practical knowledge of general building maintenance, including mechanical, electrical and plumbing principles.
  • Good problem-solving skills and the ability to use initiative when identifying or resolving maintenance issues.
  • Ability to use tools, equipment and materials safely.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and adapt to changing needs.
  • Clear communication and accurate record-keeping.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance, repairs and minor improvement works across the Playhouse.
  • Conduct daily maintenance walkarounds and identify defects, hazards and risks.
  • Use Trello and maintenance systems to manage tasks.
  • Support planned preventative maintenance and routine compliance checks.
  • Maintain forecourt, external areas and water features.
  • Manage plant rooms, boiler room and storage areas safely.
  • Coordinate access for contractors and support safe working practices.
  • Apply mechanical, electrical and plumbing knowledge to fix issues.
  • Assist with events, room setups and hires.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across teams and keep records updated.
