Job summary

Are you a motivated and committed individual with a passion and keen interest for education ? An excellent opportunity has arisen at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital for two (2) Theatre Clinical Educator role.

We are looking for an individual with enthusiasm for the development of others , who will provide professional and pastoral support , possessing good leadership skills , orthopaedic scrub experience and ability to work as part of a team.

The post holder will be working within the Theatre department as part of a Theatres Education Team. They will liaise and make good working relationships with the trust education team, individual and ward education teams, and Divisional education teams to ensure they follow the trust objectives. This role will primarily support Theatres practice, Infection Prevention and control principles and enable World Health Organisational standards and Association for Perioperative Practice. The post holder should share good practice and innovation with colleagues, prepare and deliver training to the relevant target audience, including medical devices and FFP3 support and contribute toward the development of policies and procedures and clinical audit.

The post holder should actively participate in the education programmes within the theatres through design, development, implementation, evaluation, and review programmes of education that enable registered nurses and non-registered staff to acquire and maintain the necessary skills to safely care for theatre and recovery care.

Education programmes will support staff recruitment and retention and there should be robust induction for all new clinical staff. It is important to record and maintain an accurate and current record of staff development and attendance at courses, conferences and training days, including mandatory training in support of the Lead Practitioners.

  • PG Cert Education or willingness to undertake at Degree level
  • Leadership and management Degree or equivalent experience
EXPERIENCE

  • Current experience working at senior level within Theatres.
  • Current expert in area of clinical care (theatres)
  • Evidence of teaching both formally and informally.
  • Sound knowledge of best practices including national competence
  • Excellent communication and people skills and the ability to engage with MDT and patients.
Desirable

  • Previous experience in team management and education
  • Experience of presentation or training
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Awareness of Government Initiatives and the impact on the Theatre services
  • Evidence of commitment to educational initiatives to ensure the delivery of evidence based clinical practice and high-quality care.
