Job summary

University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust invites applications for a theatre/healthcare support role within the Children’s Theatres team. The post involves a mix of day case, in‑patient, elective and emergency work, with commitment to high-quality patient care and teamwork.

The role requires undertaking basic and extended skills with indirect supervision, and contributing to resource management within a 7-day service framework. On-call participation is expected.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable Experience of providing care in a healthcare or social setting.
• Be able to work as a member of a team.
• Demonstrable Experience of time management and prioritising work.
• Understands and committed to a caring approach to patients & relatives.
• Completion of Level 3 Diploma in Healthcare Support or equivalent is desirable.
• Functional skills in English and Maths (Level 2) are required.

Responsibilities

• Obtain consent prior to giving care in accordance with Trust policies.
• Competently undertake delegated duties in line with patient care plans.
• Carry out a range of clinical duties with minimal supervision, including monitoring and basic procedures.
• Provide patient assessment and escalate concerns to clinicians as needed.
• Practice safe standards of care following Trust guidelines and infection control policies.
