Job summary

Charcoalblue seeks a Theatre Consultant - Technical Systems Designer with an AV focus to join our global UK-based team. You will design, document and commission audiovisual and stage lighting systems across diverse theatre projects.

You will work with architects, engineers and creative staff, traveling as needed, with induction and ongoing training provided. This is a permanent role with hybrid studio work and regular project meetings.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience working in live performance venues.
• 2+ years of experience as a technical systems designer.
• Proficiency in drafting tools such as Vectorworks, AutoCAD or REVIT.
• Experience with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
• Proven experience with PDF/document tools (Adobe Acrobat/Bluebeam).

Responsibilities

• Assist with drawings, specifications and reports on projects.
• Support senior team members and research new products.
• Ensure design quality and regulatory compliance across projects.
• Prepare design documentation for staging and audiovisual systems.
• Participate in site visits and commissioning activities.
