Job summary

Charcoalblue seeks a Theatre Consultant – Technical Systems Designer (AV focus) to join its global Theatre Consultancy team in the UK. You will design, document and commission audiovisual systems across projects, collaborating with theatre designers, stage engineers and acousticians to deliver bespoke design solutions.

Prior theatre/presentation tech and team leadership experience is advantageous. The role requires reporting to the Theatre Consulting EMEA Leadership team, with inductions and

Qualifications

• Significant live performance venue experience is essential.
• Minimum three years as a technical systems designer or consultant is desirable.
• Proficiency in REVIT preferred; Vectorworks or AutoCAD considered.
• Proficient with MS Office and GSuite.
• Experience with Adobe Acrobat and/or Bluebeam Revu for document handling.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design of audiovisual systems across multiple projects, ensuring quality and timely delivery.
• Develop design principles and technical solutions aligned with client brief and budget.
• Produce drawings, specifications, reports and system information with clear design intent.
• Lead client and stakeholder design discussions to translate needs into deliverable solutions.
• Collaborate with architectural/engineering teams to integrate infrastructure and space requirements.
