Job description

We are looking for enthusiastic, proactive and motivated individuals to undertake the Level 3 Diploma in Healthcare Support (Perioperative Support) apprenticeship. If you enjoy working within a multidisciplinary team and have a keen interest in providing best quality care for patients and their relatives in the perioperative environment, this exciting career pathway may be the right choice for you.

Overview

The Level 3 Diploma in Healthcare Support (Perioperative Support) apprenticeship is a work‑based nationally recognised qualification delivered in partnership with Wigan & Leigh College. Apprentices will be employed by the Trust for the duration of the two‑year programme, with work‑based learning and clinical assessment opportunities across the Trust and theoretical delivery at the college.

Responsibilities
  • Assist registered nurses and ODPs in the delivery of safe and effective perioperative care in operating theatres and other care environments.
  • Support the daily operation of the theatre team, including preparation of equipment and management of patient flow.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge, skills and competencies related to the role of a Theatre Assistant (Theatre Health Care Assistant).
  • Participate in the apprenticeship programme, completing required assessments and learning objectives.
  • Contribute to the delivery of person‑centred perioperative care.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Evidence of a good level in English and Maths; proof required at interview and during compliance checks.
  • Willingness to commit to a two‑year fixed‑term Band 2 contract while undertaking the apprenticeship.
  • Keen interest in multidisciplinary teamwork and patient care.
