Abingdon School has an exciting opportunity for a Theatre and Events Supervisor to join the team.

Location: Abingdon School, OX14 1DE

Job Type: Part-Time, Fixed-Term, (maternity cover)

Salary: GBP17,047 - GBP18,380 per annum (GBP28,411 - GBP30,634 per annum FTE).

About Us:

Abingdon School is a leading independent day and boarding school with around 1000 pupils aged 11-18. The School is situated in 35 acres of beautiful grounds in the centre of Abingdon, just south of Oxford. Abingdon School will admit girls to its First Year (Year 7) and Sixth Form (Year 12) from September 2026.

The Role:

An opportunity has arisen in the Amey Theatre and Drama department for a part-time Theatre and Events Supervisor (0.6 FTE) on a fixed term contract to cover a period of maternity leave until 31 July 2026. This role offers scope for a wide-ranging artistic, creative and administrative contribution to the dramatic life of the school.

The Theatre and Events Supervisor will assist Amey Theatre operations by providing a range of Box Office, administrative, theatre and production support. Alongside this, they will support the school Drama Department with the design and creation of sets and props for both curricular and co-curricular productions and performances.

We are seeking a person with a passion for drama, and experience of the kind of professionalism, teamwork, organisation and diplomacy involved in supporting the delivery of a full events calendar. This post would suit a candidate with excellent interpersonal, administrative and drama/theatre support skills who will relish the challenges of working in a busy school department.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Providing support for exam productions, specialising in props and set sourcing and creation
  2. Alongside the Theatre Technical Manager, oversee the set and prop design/sourcing, procurement and storage for school productions
  3. Monitoring production budgets
  4. Providing administrative support for the Abingdon Film Unit (including taxi booking etc)
  5. Providing duty managing and/or basic AV/technical support for some theatre or commercial events such as assemblies and lectures
  6. Managing and overseeing the Amey Theatre Box Office for both internal and commercial events, marketing emails, emails to patrons before events

You:

  1. The successful candidate will have a passion for drama, alongside practical experience and, preferably, a qualification in drama and theatre or production
  2. Good general educational level
  3. Strong knowledge, understanding and practical experience of drama, theatre and production processes
  4. Excellent organisational skills
  5. Ability to work well independently and with others
  6. Ability to work quickly, calmly and politely while under pressure, and to cope well with the demands of drama productions
  7. Excellent interpersonal skills
