Position: Structures Test - Rig Design & Stress Engineer (m/f)
Location: Filton, Bristol
Contract: Full time, fixed-term. 37.5 hours per week

Duties:

1. Test Rig Concepts designed on time, cost & quality.
2. Prepare a pre-design (3D study) for specification release.
3. Integrate electrical, measurement and data system installation requirements.
4. Provide detailed designs and data transfer for manufacturing.
5. Ensure a configuration management of drawings and 3D data.
6. Provide specimen interface drawings.
7. Ensure test means interfaces are compliant with specimen loading areas.
8. Support acceptance of test means after manufacturing.
9. Provide expertise during the assembly of the test means in the laboratory.
10. Coordinate all internal and external contributors/stakeholders/suppliers.
11. Anticipate, identify and manage risks & opportunities.
12. Participate in the Test Centre and weekly team meetings.

Our requirements:

1. Design of aeronautical structures or equivalent high precision structural engineering projects (e.g. civil, marine, test rigs).
2. 3D Design of complex engineering structures (CATIA V5 and/or 3DXperience).
3. Stress calculation and checking (hand calculations and/or FEM sizing tool).
4. Materials testing (optional).
5. Experience in managing suppliers or participating in supplier selection (optional).
6. Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in mechanical engineering or a related discipline (e.g. Aerospace, Structures, Materials, Physics).
7. Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
8. Independent and structured way of working.
9. Ability to work in a team, resilience, flexibility.

Salary: circa £45,000 dependent on experience.
