Job description

Are you a hands-on Test Technician looking for your next permanent role? Do you enjoy working in a workshop environment, supporting mechanical testing and product development? If so, we want to hear from you!

We are currently recruiting for a Test Technician to join an engineering team based in Wellingborough. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the testing of vehicle and suspension systems as part of a structured product development process, within a supportive and safety-conscious environment.

Location: Wellingborough

Shift: Monday-Thursday: 08:00-16:30, Friday: 08:00-13:30

Salary: £25,000 - £30,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Duties:

* Maintain a clean, organised, and safe test facility and workshop

* Prepare, position and maintain test rigs, fixtures, and vehicle conversions

* Support Engineers with the development of test rigs, bracketry, safety guards, and tooling

* Perform mechanical fitting, welding, pneumatic/hydraulic work, and basic vehicle electrics

* Control and store test samples and related inventory

* Aid in defining experiments and developing risk assessments

* Support test execution and assist with documenting test results

* Monitor tests to ensure smooth running and quickly identify failures

The ideal candidate must:

* Have a qualification in mechanical engineering or another relevant engineering discipline

* Have experience in a workshop or general engineering environment

* Be confident with mechanical systems, hydraulic systems, and basic MS Office use

* Be organised, self-reliant, and proactive in identifying and solving problems

* Demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills

* Be flexible, adaptable, and committed to continuous improvement

Desirable (but not essential):

* NDT testing experience

* Experience in a structural test function or with vehicle converters

* Automotive electrical instrumentation knowledge

* HGV licence or willingness to work towards one

* Familiarity with MTS software or SolidWorks
