Job Description

Red Bull Powertrains are looking for an experienced Test Technician to join the Validation & Testing Group. At our state-of-the-art facility in Milton Keynes, we perform physical testing to verify the electrical elements of the powertrain systems, covering an extensive range from single components (motor, inverter, battery) to full system with electrified powertrain. Maximising the effectiveness of this group requires a highly dynamic approach, advanced test technology, automation tools, and the latest testing methodologies to ensure maximum performance and reliability of the Formula One car during race conditions.

We are seeking a Test Technician who is dynamic, passionate, and highly motivated. A strong team player with proven experience testing HV electric motors, power electronics, and/or batteries, capable of working well independently to deliver under pressure. The successful candidate will demonstrate high energy levels, flexibility for shift work, and proactive support to help Red Bull Powertrains & Red Bull Technology achieve its objectives.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Installing HV Units Under Test (UUTs) on various advanced test beds
  • Basic instrumentation and data logging of UUTs
  • Assembling and commissioning jigs/rigs based on technical drawings for UUT testing
  • Maintaining test dyno & rigs run logs and reporting facility breakdowns
  • Operating facility and test equipment per work instructions and procedures
  • Servicing and repairing test equipment and supporting UUT activities
  • Performing initial analysis and interpretation of test results
  • Identifying faults in UUTs and test rigs, reporting issues appropriately

Qualifications and experience needed:

  • Relevant experience in electric powertrain testing, ideally within motorsport
  • Practical knowledge of ERS systems (motor, inverter, battery) and basic electrics/hydraulics in motorsport
  • Apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical or Motor Vehicle Engineering or higher
  • Experience operating modern automated test equipment in HV environments
  • Knowledge of motor vehicle technology and F1 powertrain architecture
  • Strong manual dexterity and practical skills
  • Experience with test cell instrumentation, measurement, and CAN communication devices
  • HV Competent Person certification is desirable
