Job summary

Coherent in the United Kingdom is seeking a Test Systems Engineer to design, develop, and optimize automated burn‑in and electro‑optical test systems for laser diode manufacturing. You will own complete test system solutions from electrical design to software integration and commissioning.

This hands‑on role spans electronics, software, automation, and production equipment, with collaboration across manufacturing and product teams to deliver robust, scalable equipment that improves production

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field; equivalent education considered.
• Experience designing complete electrical control systems, including power distribution, control circuits, and machine safety systems.
• Strong background in analog electronics and measurement hardware.
• Proficiency in C# or another OO programming language.
• Experience with SQL databases.
• Several years of experience developing production equipment or automated machinery.
• Ability to work independently and drive projects.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain electrical control systems.
• Develop PLC software and supporting applications.
• Integrate measurement hardware and sensors into systems.
• Commission and optimize burn‑in and electro‑optical tests.
• Troubleshoot electrical, software, and automation issues.
