Job description

ESM Prep UK is seeking a skilled part-time one-on-one SAT/ACT admissions test preparation tutor, who is able to meet with students both in person in London and online. Ideally, we are looking for someone with classroom experience, who is also able to teach group sessions for preparation in the autumn.

Job Description

Mentors will assist students one-on-one in preparing for US colleges and universities by readying them for the ACT and SAT exams and potentially other academic subjects, as well.

We call our tutors Academic Mentors because we prioritise the holistic development of each of our students. All applicants should be passionate about working with youth and should have previous experience in private tuition, teaching, and/or coaching. All our mentors are employees, not contractors.

Job Requirements
  1. Bachelor's degree
  2. Prior experience teaching ACT/SAT is preferred. A past score or a score from a diagnostic test taken during the application process will be required to ensure sufficient expertise to teach the test at the highest level (note that successful applicants will receive further training at the start of employment)
  3. Must be able to tutor in person in London or virtually at least 3 to 4 times a week
  4. Additional expertise in tutoring multiple high school subjects–especially maths, computer science, and physics–is a plus!
  5. Available part-time. Tutoring usually occurs on weekday evenings (after 3 pm) and/or at weekends. Typical work timetable is Sunday-Thursday. Although the majority of the work is online, you must be available for in-person tutoring in students' homes or in our offices in Marylebone, London UK
  6. Available to teach 3-4 of our school courses at our partner schools in London and the home counties. Typically, these take place from September through December and are held once a week (8 sessions in total) either online or in person at the school. Availability for, and travelling to, the in-person courses is required.
  7. Available to tutor through June 2025 or longer
  8. Right to work in the UK

Compensation/Benefits
  1. £50 per hour one-on-one teaching rate
  2. £15 per hour admin rate
  3. Up to £75 per hour for in-person teaching at partner schools
  4. Additional £30 per hour rate will be paid for travelling to schools
  5. Flexible schedule
