Job Description

Test Lead - Smart Metering

We are looking for an enthusiastic Test Lead with meticulous attention to detail to help us deliver innovative software that will transform how we communicate with and manage our extensive Smart meter base.

Our organization is flat and agile, and we intend to maintain this structure. We seek a hands-on Test Lead to help build, test, and assure our technological capabilities as we grow in a tightly regulated industry. It is crucial to understand our customer's problems and implement solutions that add real value.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the energy market, Smart metering processes, and how technology can enable E.ON Next to deliver complex Smart metering change programs. Collaboration with technology, business, compliance, operational teams, third-party vendors, and industry partners is essential.

The Test Lead will play a key role in refining, setting up, testing, assuring, and launching E.ON Next's partnership with their chosen Smart adapter provider. This involves managing complex journeys requiring changes, including asset and field management, device connectivity, and device operation.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Understanding, mapping, and defining test requirements, activities, and dependencies across multiple business areas and system integrations.
  2. Managing a dedicated team of test analysts focused on Smart delivery, ensuring compliance with standards and regulations.
  3. Planning, managing, and executing testing phases with defined entry/exit criteria and scope.
  4. Providing assurance for external partners by completing comprehensive testing across various end-to-end phases.
  5. Establishing and managing processes such as defect and change request management, test environments, data, tools, labs, and simulators.
  6. Collaborating closely with product teams, business owners, tech teams, and SaaS providers to create and refine product pipelines.
  7. Engaging with Smart industry programs to influence outcomes.
  8. Supporting risk and issue identification throughout the delivery lifecycle.
  9. Testing, assuring, and supporting the launch of new technologies.
  10. Keeping stakeholders informed and building networks within the business and with third parties.

Ideal candidate profile:

  • Experience managing a test team, prioritizing, and delegating duties.
  • Knowledge of industry Smart metering forums, processes, and architecture (desirable).
  • Experience working with SaaS providers and industry bodies.
  • Experience managing complex delivery pipelines and regulatory programs.
  • Adaptability and comfort with ambiguity.
  • Self-starting, organized, and versatile across the product lifecycle.
  • Enthusiastic, dependable, and responsible.
  • Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent presentation skills and experience influencing senior stakeholders.
