Job description

Summary

The role is that of an experienced Test Lead to join the Finance Transformation Programme team and lead the end to end testing.

Main duties

  • Create comprehensive test approach and plans for the Finance Transformation programme that align with the Chaucer Test Policy and Enterprise Test Strategy
  • Oversee aspects of quality assurance including establishing metrics, applying industry best practices, and developing new tools and processes to ensure quality goals are met.
  • Championing the quality mindset, agile test process and methodology in the business.
  • Champion continuous improvement with quality, testing and release activities through the establishment, measurement, and transparency of relevant metrics that add value and move us closer to Chaucer goals in general and the FT programme goals in particular
  • Work closely with the FT Programme Development, Test, Release, Programme/Project Management, Operations teams to ensure testing within the teams is supported, efficient, and best practice is implemented, and ensure seamless integration and delivery of high-quality software.
  • Build a working relationship with Functional Service Leads and SME’s, especially in the Accounting and Finance departments and provide confidence in testing to them.
  • Keep abreast of new testing tools, technologies, and methods, and ensuring continuous improvement of the testing processes.
  • Contribute to Technical Leadership by taking initiatives to make improvement across the testing function.
  • Ensure testing tools, technologies and direction across the QA team are aligned.

Regulatory responsibilities

Provide information on the FT programme to the Internal Audit team or any other regulatory team as necessary.

Requirements

  • Experience of understanding and quantifying business risk that could be introduced by technology changes.
  • Proven experience working in the UK Financial Services industry, Insurance industry experience desirable
  • Experience in Data Warehousing and ETL processes
  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft/similar accounting application and accounting principles
  • Proficiency in test automation tools (e.g., Selenium, NUnit, Ready API, Test Complete), programming languages (e.g. .NET, C#, Python), and CI/CD tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, Git).
  • Experience with regulatory or compliance testing requirements.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a highly regulated environment.
  • Proven leadership championing transformation and change using empirical data & dashboards.
  • Knowledge and understanding of software security standards and challenges.
  • Demonstrable experience of building a well-rounded test approach including manual and automated testing and ensuring these are reported on regularly to engage Business stakeholders and manage their expectations.
  • Familiar with non-functional testing (Performance/Security/Usability).
  • End to End testing and test planning across multiple systems and platforms.
  • Understanding and appreciation of user journeys and customer experience.
  • Experienced in using Azure DevOps (Epics, Stories and Defect Management) to measure and report.

Desirable

  • Experience in the Accounting and Finance domain
  • Phinsys experience
  • PeopleSoft (or any other General Ledger application) experience
  • Functional knowledge of accounting

Education and Testing Experience

Essential

ISTQB/ISEB Foundation or equivalent.Minimum of 10 years of experience in software testing, with at least 4 years as Test Manager/Lead.

Desirable

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
