Job summary

Advanced Electric Machines (AEM) invites engineers to join a hands-on team developing rare-earth‑free electric motors and drive systems. You will contribute to development, integration and testing across multiple disciplines to shape the future of electric mobility.

Reporting to the Process Engineering Manager, you’ll design and commission test facilities, calibrate motors and inverters, analyse data, support customer programmes and produce technical reports.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Mechatronics or a related engineering discipline.
• Experience in applications engineering, development engineering, test engineering or systems integration.
• Experience with electric motors, powertrains or drive systems.

Responsibilities

• Developing and supporting electric drive solutions for a variety of customer applications.
• Designing, building, commissioning and maintaining test rigs and development facilities.
• Planning and conducting electrical, mechanical, thermal and performance testing activities.
• Developing, configuring and optimising motor and inverter calibrations to achieve performance targets.
• Integrating motors, inverters and associated systems into development and customer programmes.
• Analysing test results and engineering data to identify opportunities for performance and reliability improvements.
• Diagnosing and resolving technical issues using a range of diagnostic and measurement tools.
• Working closely with suppliers and technical partners to develop and optimise system performance.
• Supporting prototype builds, development projects and validation activities.
• Producing technical reports, documentation and engineering records.
• Contributing to continuous improvement and new product introduction activities across the business.

Education

About the Role

Reporting to the Process Engineering Manager, you'll support the development, integration and validation of AEM's electric drive solutions.

This is a hands‑on role that combines practical engineering, data analysis and problem solving. You'll be involved in everything from designing and commissioning test facilities through to developing motor and inverter calibrations, supporting customer applications and validating product performance.

What You'll Be Doing

What We're Looking For

We're open to hearing from engineers with experience in applications engineering, development engineering, test engineering, systems integration or similar technical roles.

You'll likely have experience in:

• Electric motors, powertrains, drive systems or electrified products.
• Developing, operating or commissioning engineering test facilities.
• System integration and product validation activities.
• Inverter calibration, commissioning or motor‑drive parameterisation.
• Data analysis and technical problem solving.
• Working with instrumentation, data acquisition and measurement systems.
• CAN communication systems and diagnostic tools.
• Automotive, EV, motorsport, aerospace, industrial drives or advanced engineering environments.
