Job summary

Siemens Energy in Lincoln is seeking a Mechanical Test Fitter to join a multi-disciplined team responsible for maintaining test facilities and performing installation and performance testing of gas turbines.

You will connect gas turbines to test rigs, fuel and lubricating oil systems, and instrumentation, then run tests to industry standards while upholding Zero Harm safety practices. The role requires a full Level 3 apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 and a collaborative mindset.

Qualifications

• Full Level 3 apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3, or Technical Certificate in engineering.
• Experience in a mechanical industry with rotating equipment preferred.
• Strong safety and quality mindset with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Maintain test facilities and assist installation and performance testing of gas turbines.
• Connect turbines to test rigs, fuel, lubricating oil, pneumatic systems and instrumentation.
• Carry out mechanical fitting activities with precise documentation.
• Support the team and contribute to continuous improvements.

Job description

As a Mechanical Test Fitter, you will be part of a multi-disciplined team responsible for maintaining test facilities and performing installation and performance testing of gas turbines. Working within a DSEAR-controlled environment, you will connect gas turbines to test rigs, fuel supplies, lubricating oil and pneumatic systems, inlet and exhaust ducting, output shafts, and instrumentation. You will then collaborate with the team to run performance tests to industry standards.

How You'll Make an Impact

• Carry out mechanical fitting activities to exacting standards with detailed documentation.
• Ensure the highest level of health and safety, working in line with Zero Harm principles.
• Support production, development, and other departmental activities as required.
• Contribute to business improvements and maintain a high-quality working environment.
• Work shift patterns as required to meet program demands. Experience in a relevant mechanical industry, preferably with exposure to rotating equipment.
• A recognized full Level 3 apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3, or Technical Certificate in a relevant engineering field or equivalent
• Demonstrate attention to detail to achieve precision in all assembly work.
• A strong safety and quality-driven mindset, with a collaborative approach to teamwork.
