Job summary

Celeros Flow Technology is seeking a Test Fitter to work on pump testing, installation, commissioning, testing and dismantling, with responsibility for safety, quality and cost control. The role involves supporting continuous improvement and training peers, within a heavy manufacturing setting in the UK.

Candidates should be time-served in mechanical fitting with at least 3 years of relevant experience, and be capable of working to tight deadlines while maintaining high safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Trade-tested Mechanical Fitter with at least 3 years' relevant experience in heavy manufacturing.
  • Safety-minded with ability to manage risks in test environments.
  • Experience with rotating equipment and laser alignment advantageous.
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing techniques.
  • Proven ability to work in a team to meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must obtain security clearance up to SC level.

Responsibilities

  • Install pumps and ancillaries for testing, including foundations and pipework.
  • Control test parameters, temperatures and pressures within limits.
  • Identify non-conformances and work with others to resolve.
  • Dismantle and store test equipment per procedures.
  • Perform self-inspection and complete paperwork and checklists.
  • Maintain test department equipment to maximise reliability.
  • Support continuous improvement to enhance safety and reduce costs.
  • Work in other assembly areas when required.
  • Collaborate with managers to implement company policies and goals.
  • Ensure health, safety and environmental guidelines are followed.
  • Provide training and support to peers and apprentices.
  • Pursue additional training as needed.

General Summary

As a member of the test team the role of the Test Fitter involves working on pumps for Original Equipment [OE] and Aftermarket (AM) orders. This role will include all aspects of the pump testing cycle including installation, commissioning, testing and dismantling. Assisting with continuous improvement activities in the test areas to improve safety, workflow and drive down operational costs.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities (essential Functions)
  • Installation of pumps for testing including their ancillary equipment where applicable. This involves setting out and securing temporary foundations, pipework installation and rotor alignment. Connecting services to support lubrication and cooling where required.
  • Participating in operational tests by controlling various aspects of the test parameters such as temperatures and pressures within acceptable limits.
  • Highlight any non-conformances which are identified through the appropriate channels and in a timely manner. Work with others to ensure that issues are resolved.
  • Breakdown temporary test arrangements and store equipment away as per departmental procedures.
  • Responsible for your own quality of work, self-inspection and completion of paperwork and applicable checklists are required.
  • Perform maintenance activities on test department equipment as required to ensure maximum reliability and availability of equipment.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities to assist the company in its efforts to improve safety, drive down costs and increase productivity.
  • Work in other assembly areas when required.
  • Work with managers and other test department personnel to implement the company's policies and goals.
  • Ensure that health, safety and environmental guidelines are followed.
  • Provide on-going support and training to peers and apprentices as required.
  • Be available to undertake further training (internal & external) if required.
Education, Skills And Experience
  • Time served Mechanical Fitter with at least 3 years relevant experience preferably in a heavy manufacturing environment.
  • Should have a challenging attitude and safety mindset to manage risks within the test environment.
  • Experience with rotating equipment and laser alignment would be advantageous.
  • Have an understanding and experience of lean manufacturing techniques.
  • Demonstratable experience of working within a team to execute tasks in a timely manner to achieve goals under tight timeframes.
  • Strong communication skills; both written and verbally.
  • Must be able to undertake National Security Vetting and obtain security clearance up to SC level.
