At Checkout our software engineers develop the next-generation payments technologies that enable our Merchants to boost their acceptance rates, cut processing costs, fight fraud, and create cutting edge technology that enables extraordinary customer experiences.

We're looking for engineers who bring fresh ideas, have a curious nature and are passionate about working in an Engineering environment which focuses on building products to achieve the company's strategic goals. You’ll get to work with teams from across Checkout.com’s portfolio of products and services who all have a real customer first philosophy.

As a software engineer, you will work on a specific project critical to Checkout's needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve. We need our engineers to be versatile, display exceptional leadership qualities and be enthusiastic to take on new problems across the full-stack as we continue to push technology forward. Across the business we primarily use C# .Net Core, hosted on AWS with event-driven microservices, but we're happy to up-skill engineers from certain backgrounds like Java to adapt to our stack. With your technical expertise you will lead project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables. You will design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software solutions.

About you:

1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
2. Proficiency in .NET C#, Java, or Go, with a strong understanding of software development principles in either a backend or full stack environment.
3. Great communication skills and ability to interact effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
4. Experience working in agile environments and delivering high-quality code within tight deadlines.
5. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
6. Payments or financial knowledge is a plus, but not a necessity.

How you’ll make an impact

1. Be part of, and collaborate with, cross-functional teams including product management, across a large engineering community.
2. Define and design loosely coupled, scalable systems in a wider microservices using industry best practices.
3. Stay up-to-date, use, and spread knowledge of the latest technologies used by Checkout.
4. Write clean, maintainable, extendable and testable code on some of Checkout’s most impactful systems.
5. Build, own and operate your systems to the highest levels of resilience and service.
6. Mentor junior team members and assist in their technical development.
