Job Description:

The Test Engineer will lead the testing function for an aerospace manufacturing facility. You will interpret higher level design requirements to generate test equipment and test set-up requirements, perform test equipment and test set up design. The ideal candidate will have exposure to Test Site Propellant and Pressurant feed systems, Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE). The procurement, fabrication and assembly of Test Site Propellant and Pressurant feed systems, GSE and EGSE will be a key responsibility. The incumbent will generate equipment setup, checkout and maintenance plans, product test procedures and support product test activities including communicating test result data to engineering teams. This is a new position interfacing with the Engineering Department supporting a key product line including chemical propulsion; thrusters, apogee engines, test site, propulsion systems and new product development with occasional Hot Fire Test functionality support.

Skills and Requirements:

Degree in Mechanical, Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering or BSc Degree in Physics with experience of the design and development of rocket engines, fluidic control systems and space engineering. Mechanical fitting practical skills within engineering. Understanding of chemical rocket engineering, mechanical engineering and some electrical engineering. Ability to provide line management support to Test Technicians.

Responsibilities:

  1. Review and interpret higher level requirements; Test Plan and relevant sections of a higher level specification such as propulsion system specification.
  2. Generate Compliance; Matrix Design Verification and Compliance Matrix against the test plan and relevant sections of higher level specification.
  3. Test equipment/test setup requirements.
  4. Perform test equipment setup requirements design including key component identification.
  5. Procure, fabricate and assemble Test Site Propellant and Pressurant feed systems, GSE and EGSE.
  6. Generate Test Site Propellant and Pressurant feed system, GSE and EGSE setup & checkout procedures and maintenance plans.
