The Product:

A telehandler is a versatile machine used primarily in construction, agriculture, and other industries for material handling. It features a telescoping boom that can extend forward and upward, allowing it to lift and place loads at various heights and distances.

  • Extended reach: The telescoping boom provides significant reach, making it ideal for placing materials in hard-to-access areas.

  • Lift capacity: Telehandlers can handle heavy loads, often ranging from a few thousand pounds to over ten thousand pounds.

  • Attachment versatility: They can be equipped with various attachments, such as forks, buckets, and lifting hooks, to perform different tasks.

  • Manoeuvrability: Telehandlers often have multiple steering modes, enhancing their ability to navigate tight spaces.

Responsibilities

As a Test Booth Technician, you will operate as part of the production team responsible for assembly of parts or components to produce Building Construction Product (BCP) machines, according to specified work orders. You will utilise lean manufacturing tools and techniques whilst operating to defined “takt times” and production sequences.

  • Follow documented standard work procedures/instructions to perform safe and defect free assembly of parts and components, using various hand, power tools and lifting equipment provided in the work area.

  • Follow and utilise Caterpillar Production System principles of continuous improvement reporting, waste elimination and standard work.

  • Operate BCP built products where required.

  • Train/coach new Assembly Technicians/Apprentices to standard work instructions.

  • Keep the work area clean, tidy and safe in line with 5S and total preventative maintenance (TPM).

  • Participate in rapid improvement workshops (RIW\'s) contributing process expertise.

  • Adhere to the Organisation\'s health & safety policy and safe working practices.

  • Adhere to Caterpillar\'s Values in Action: Integrity, Commitment, Excellence, Teamwork

  • Undertake training and further learning as required.

You will be expected to
  • Perform evaluation, functional testing, and basic troubleshooting of product in a Quality manner, according to procedure, within time constraints, and whilst adhering to all Health, Safety and Environmental standards

  • Perform in-process and or final assembly tests.

  • Cross-train to learn the skills necessary to be competent in a variety of positions.

  • Have the ability to collate data and perform failure analysis whilst making productive contributions

  • Act and operate safely at all times, following Safety Procedures and requirements.

  • Learn & Develop technically, understand basic circuits, read and interpret basic schematic drawings.

Qualifications

Candidates must have the following skills and experience through previous roles:

  • Demonstrable high level of assembly or mechanical aptitude and accuracy with a good working knowledge of assembly practices.

  • The ability to read, comprehend and follow verbal and written instructions/procedures.

  • The ability to work closely with others is imperative, requiring team participation to achieve the agreed objectives.

  • You will possess effective communication skills to liaise with various levels of the organisation.

  • Have a fully flexible approach to the job role & responsibilities (willing to work overtime).

  • The ability to use hand/power tools and lifting equipment.

  • Prepared to undertake required training/learning.

  • Must be willing to work a multi-shift pattern.

Candidates may have the following skills and experience through previous roles:

  • Previous experience of working within a manufacturing assembly environment.

  • Good hydraulic, electrical, diagnostic/problem solving skills.

  • Relevant NVQ level 2/equivalent or higher.

Salary: Starting £27,850 rising when role triggers are met to £29,270

Contract: Permanent
