Job summary

Bright Purple Resourcing Ltd is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer for a contract role in Liverpool. You will design, build and maintain automated test frameworks using Playwright and TypeScript, working hands-on while engaging with client stakeholders to raise quality.

The role is hybrid with on-site presence Tue-Thu, starting imminently for a 3-month contract with potential extension, and a daily rate in the £325-£350 range.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Senior Automation Engineer or in a similar role.
• Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to work directly with clients.
• A collaborative, proactive approach and a good fit with the client’s people-focused culture.
• Insurance sector experience would be a real advantage, but isn’t essential.
• Strong hands-on skills in Playwright and TypeScript.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain automated test suites using Playwright and TypeScript.
• Build robust, scalable automation frameworks.
• Collaborate with developers, BAs and product owners to bake in quality.
• Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
• Share progress, risks and recommendations with client stakeholders.
• Mentor and support team members on automation best practices.

Senior Automation Engineer | Contract | Liverpool (Hybrid)

Bright Purple is working with a client in Liverpool to find two Senior Automation Engineers for a contract starting this month. It's a chance to join a collaborative delivery team where you'll have a real say in the quality and test automation approach.

Location: Liverpool, onsite Tuesday to Thursday

Rate: £325 - £350 per day - Statement of Work

Start date: 12 October 2026

Duration: 3 months initially, with a view to extend by a further 6 months

The role

You’ll design, build and maintain test automation frameworks with Playwright and TypeScript. The work is hands‑on, but you’ll also be client‑facing: you’ll work closely with stakeholders, explain your approach and help raise the quality bar across the team.

What you’ll be doing

• Designing, building and improving automated test suites using Playwright and TypeScript
• Building robust, scalable and maintainable automation frameworks
• Working with developers, BAs and product owners to make sure quality is built in from the start
• Fitting automated testing into CI/CD pipelines
• Sharing progress, risks and recommendations clearly with client stakeholders
• Mentoring and supporting other team members on automation best practice

What we’re looking for
