We have a fantastic opening for a Test & Implementation Lead to join our Backstage Support team in IT.

Our Backstage support teams are crucial to the delivery across all five of our venues – The NEC, bp pulse LIVE, Utilita Arena Birmingham, the ICC, and Vox - and include IT, Finance, Marketing, People, Legal, Safety and Procurement. Collaborating seamlessly with our frontline operational teams to create unforgettable moments for the millions of people that visit us each year.

We’re looking for an experienced Test and Implementation Lead to play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality projects by overseeing all aspects of testing – from strategy and planning to execution and reporting. You’ll lead testing teams and be instrumental in transforming how we test. This role involves defining testing scope and approach for all projects, coordinating with vendors and internal teams to implement modern testing methodologies, and ensuring clear governance and documentation.

Day to day you will:

1. Be the ‘go to’ person for all testing advice and strategy and take ownership for the project development lifecycle.
2. Work to continuously improve test processes and methodologies to enhance effectiveness and efficiency of testing activities.
3. Define, articulate, and document test and implementation strategies, test plans and schedules appropriate to a project.
4. Co-ordinate defect resolution and manage re-test dates in line with priority/severity/timeline.
5. Co-ordinate implementation activities in line with an agreed release plan.

Our Ideal Candidate will have:

1. A minimum of 5 years’ experience in software testing.
2. Demonstrable testing experience as well as leading test workstreams in a high pressure, fast-paced and multi-project environment.
3. Strong stakeholder management and relationship building skills.
4. Experience of test analysis, execution, testing web-based applications and manual testing – previous experience of tools such as Azure and DevOps is desirable.
5. ISEB/ISTQB Foundation Certificate in Software Testing is advantageous.
