Job description
Availability Window

Days and times: Sundays to Saturdays, 06:30 to 23:00. The advertised availability windows indicate when contracted hours will be scheduled. You will be scheduled with 3 weeks’ notice of exact shifts. We support flexibility where times align closely with the advertised windows.

Shift Leader pay starts from £14.76 per hour and increases to £15.97 per hour for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may apply depending on location.

It’s our policy to offer new colleagues a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours per week. If you’d like to work fewer hours (to a minimum of 12), we have opportunities for this too and would love to hear from you.

The availability window shows the periods during which we’d like you to be available to work. We will schedule your contracted hours within these times, and you’ll have three weeks’ notice of exactly when your shifts will be. We are happy to support flexibility, so if the times you are available are close but not exact to the advertised times, we’d still love to hear from you.

Customers are at the heart of everything we do.

It takes a lot of great people to run one of our stores, and it takes a great Shift Leader to support them all and keep things running smoothly. • Look for ways to improve service, including coaching colleagues and giving feedback
  • Guide and support colleagues in-store, ensuring a safe place to work and shop
  • Maintain an understanding of store performance and assist managers in actions to improve operations
  • Lead from the front and set a positive example

Please note that you need to be 18 or over to apply for this role.

  • Coordinating the store team to deliver an easy, fuss-free shopping experience for customers
  • Supporting colleagues to deliver daily priorities and take regular breaks
  • Opening and closing the store and completing duty cover, ensuring safety decisions are right for everyone
  • Being the go-to person for colleagues in the absence of a manager for day-to-day queries
  • Keeping the store clean, tidy, and well-presented
  • Supporting managers to coordinate seasonal, community and charity events
  • Creating a great team atmosphere that is inclusive of everyone
  • Providing great customer service by listening to customers and prioritising their needs
  • Keeping the team informed of communications, changes or updates
  • Staying knowledgeable about store performance and looking for ways to improve operations
  • Coordinating store improvements and removing obstacles to service
  • Following health and safety routines and ensuring colleagues do the same
  • Recognising and celebrating colleagues who provide great service
  • To be a great role model, providing thoughtful customer service that meets customer needs
  • To build strong, long-lasting relationships with colleagues to create an inclusive team atmosphere
  • To communicate clearly using a variety of methods to keep the team informed
  • To lead and oversee the store in the absence of the Manager
  • To make good decisions and adapt to change to serve customers and colleagues
  • To motivate the team and inspire performance
  • To be curious and seek ideas to better serve customers, communities and the planet
