Job summary

Tesco PLC in London is seeking a store colleague to help deliver exceptional shopping experiences. You will work in a fast-paced environment, greet customers, stock shelves and serve with a smile while following hygiene and safety guidelines.

Daily duties include helping customers, handling products with care and contributing to a welcoming store culture. You’ll learn Tesco policies, work with a supportive team and develop skills across a busy department.

• Baking in waves for scratch products to keep customers fed with fresh items and minimise waste.
• Handling products with care to maintain quality and ensure they reach customers in good condition.
• Adhering to all food hygiene, safety and allergen guidelines at all times.
• Putting training into practice to work safely, effectively and serve customers brilliantly.
• Proactively checking emergency stop buttons are working and machinery is safe to use before operation.

Key Responsibilities

• Baking in waves for scratch products so customers receive fresh products throughout the day, minimising waste and ensuring yield is being adhered to for great quality.
• Handling products with care to maintain quality and ensure they reach customers in the best condition.
• Adhering to all food hygiene, safety and allergen guidelines at all times
• Passionate and knowledgeable about the products and services within my department and my store
• Putting into practice the training you have received, so we all work safely, effectively and serve our customers brilliantly.
• Proactively checking the emergency stop buttons are working and all machinery is safe to use before operation, in line with safe & legal checks/training. Report any next steps to the Shift Leader/Team Manager.
• Disposing of waste in a responsible manner, including following food waste and recycling routines.
• Being knowledgeable about your stores performance, understanding the part you play and what we need to do together to drive service and sales, reduce waste and shrink and deliver profit.
• Being yourself, living our values, making everyone feel welcome and always following our policies.

• Our Tesco Colleague rate of pay starts from £13.28 an hour; this increases to £14.55 for stores within the M25. Additional payments may also apply depending on location. It's our policy to offer new colleagues joining us a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours each week, but if you'd like to work fewer hours (to a minimum of 12) we have opportunities for this too and would still love to hear from you.
