Job description

DP World is currently seeking Terminal Operatives to join our Operations Team. This role involves providing a world-class container and cargo handling service, ensuring operational efficiency and safety in compliance with terminal policies and procedures.

Note: The role involves working any 5 days over 7, with a fixed day off (not set in advance), including a mixture of day and night shifts.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Operate plant machinery and vehicles on the terminal, subject to training and capability.
  2. Conduct safety checks on equipment and report defects.
  3. Assist in handling out-of-gauge containers under crane, including arranging materials and fitting/removing twist locks.
  4. Support loading and unloading containers from trains and vessels.
  5. Operate radio communications and assist with cargo presentation for inspections.
  6. Contribute to continuous improvement and ensure timely handovers.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience in operations/manual handling roles preferred.
  • Driving plant equipment experience (e.g., forklift) beneficial.
  • Understanding of safety protocols.
  • Flexible with shifts and overtime.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.

Additional Requirements:

  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Valid UK or international driving license.
  • No unspent criminal convictions.
  • Meeting health and safety standards, including medical and weight requirements.
