Job summary

YMCA Dialogue seeks a qualified counsellor or therapist to deliver school-based counselling at Felpham Community College in Felpham, Bognor Regis. You will work with a range of clients within the Dialogue thresholds and a 6-8 session model.

You will assess referrals, manage a session timetable within the school day and collaborate with Student Services. Must uphold safeguarding and professional standards.

Qualifications

• You will have genuine interest in working with children and young people.
• Experience building effective therapeutic relationships with young people.
• Experience counselling in a school setting is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Run a suitable appointment system flexible to the needs of the school, offering assessments and counselling.
• Manage the time boundaries and diverse workload of the role.
• Liaise with school staff over referrals, waiting lists and appointments.
• Carry out initial clinical and risk assessments and establish appropriate referral pathways.
• Follow YMCA Dialogue safeguarding procedures and contact the school’s safeguarding officer when needed.
• Work within the BACP Ethical Framework for Counselling Professions.
• Maintain BACP membership or equivalent professional body status.
• Establish good professional relationships with school staff.
