Job summary

Winterstoke Hundred Academy in Weston-super-Mare is seeking a Level 1 Teaching Assistant to support students' learning, development, and wellbeing under the guidance of the teaching team.

You will help deliver planned activities, adapt materials to meet diverse needs, and monitor progress. The role is term-time only with 19.5 hours per week, starting October 2026, offering a supportive environment and commitment to professional growth.

Qualifications

• Understanding of classroom roles and responsibilities and how a Teaching Assistant supports learning.
• Ability to engage students and manage behaviour on a 1:1 or small group basis with tailored strategies.
• Commitment to undertake relevant qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3) and first aid to support development.
• Strong interpersonal skills, empathy and active listening when supporting students.

Responsibilities

• Support students by implementing planned learning activities and teaching programmes under teacher guidance.
• Adjust activities according to student responses to maximise engagement.
• Help create an inclusive learning environment and monitor student progress.
• Collaborate with teachers and colleagues to support students’ personal and social development.
