Job summary

Ryedale School is seeking a dedicated Science Technician to support the day-to-day operation of the Science Department. You will prepare materials for lessons, help maintain laboratories and resources, and ensure health and safety standards are met at all times.

You will also manage stock, order supplies and support engaging practical experiences for students. The role requires effective communication, teamwork and a proactive approach to safeguarding.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong organisational and time-management abilities.
• Confident with IT systems and maintaining accurate records.
• Awareness of health and safety requirements including COSHH.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, organise and maintain equipment and materials for practical science lessons.
• Support teachers and students during practical activities and demonstrations.
• Carry out stock control, order supplies and maintain departmental records.
• Check, clean, maintain and repair equipment where appropriate.
• Ensure laboratories, equipment and chemicals are stored safely and in line with regulations.
• Maintain COSHH documentation and material safety data sheets.
• Provide advice and guidance on practical and health & safety matters.
• Liaise with staff, students and external suppliers as required.
• Support the department in providing an engaging and effective learning environment.
• Contribute to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students.
