Job summary

Sherrardswood School in Welwyn, Hertfordshire, is seeking a reliable Catering Assistant to join our friendly kitchen team during term time. You will help with meal preparation, cooking and presenting nutritious meals for pupils and staff, while upholding high standards of food hygiene and cleanliness.

The role is part-time, 8:00am–2:00pm, Monday to Friday, with a pay rate of £12.71 per hour and an immediate start.

Qualifications

• Experience in a kitchen or catering environment preferred.
• Knowledge of basic food hygiene and cleanliness standards.
• Friendly, reliable and able to work in a busy environment.
• Willingness to support pupils and staff and work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Assisting Head Cook with meal preparation, cooking and presentation.
• Preparing ingredients, vegetables, salads and other items for daily services.
• Supporting serving of meals to pupils and staff in a friendly, professional manner.
• Maintaining high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and safety.
• Cleaning kitchen equipment, utensils, surfaces and dining areas.
• Assisting with receipt, checking, storage and rotation of deliveries.
