Job summary

Caterlink is seeking an Assistant Chef for Queen Elizabeth School in Wimborne to provide nutritionally balanced and tasty meals for students. The ideal candidate is organized, hardworking and passionate about food quality, service and safety.

The role is 25 hours per week, Monday to Friday 9:30am–2:30pm, term-time only. A DBS check is required and Caterlink supports development through blended learning and apprenticeships.

Qualifications

• Level 2 Food Safety in Catering certificate.
• Level 2 Health and Safety qualification or equivalent training.
• Good understanding of food hygiene, allergen management and cross-contamination prevention.
• Knowledge of food preparation, cooking methods and safe food storage.
• Understanding of special dietary requirements and allergen controls, particularly for students with additional needs.
• Ability to follow recipes, portion control, food safety procedures and HACCP requirements.
• Previous experience in a professional kitchen or catering environment is desirable.
• Good teamwork, communication and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning, preparing and cooking of meals to the required standard.
• Brief kitchen teams on menus and service, ensuring all food safety and health and safety procedures are applied.
• Carry out company bookwork and maintain food safety records.
