Job summary

Colchester Institute seeks an Engineering Technician to keep workshops in safe, high-standard condition, prepare teaching materials, and maintain stock levels for tools and equipment. The role collaborates with teaching and support staff to meet student learning needs.

The position is 21.5 hours per week, 36 weeks a year, at Braintree Campus, with an hourly pay of £13.35. Candidates should have the required English and Maths GCSEs and relevant subject qualifications.

Qualifications

• Minimum of Level 2 qualification in English and Mathematics GCSE 4+ or C and above / CSE Level 1 / O-Level C or above / Level 2 Adult Numeracy or Literacy or equivalent
• Education to level 2 or above and/or a professional qualification in relevant subject area or equivalent

Responsibilities

• Maintain workshop, equipment and tools to the highest standards ensuring statutory requirements are met
• Maintain an effective and timely stock control system of materials and consumables including the ordering of tools and equipment
• Prepare materials and equipment as needed by teaching staff and students in a timely, effective and efficient manner
• Undertake any other associated duties determined by the college
• Adhere to and promote the College’s Safeguarding, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, College Values and Health and Safety policies and practices
