Job summary

Northamptonshire Based College is seeking a Construction Technician (Electrical) to join its Building Services team. You will prepare electrical workshops and assist with practical lessons to help students develop industry-ready skills.

Working in a hands-on environment, you will maintain workshop facilities and equipment, manage stock, and help ensure a safe, well-organised learning space for learners and staff alike. The role is full-time across 37 hours and part-year 36 weeks.

Qualifications

• GCSE Maths and English (Grade C/4 or above) or equivalent.
• Level 2 Diploma in Electrical Installation or related qualification.
• Experience in a similar technician, workshop or construction support role.
• Commitment to safe working practices.

Responsibilities

• Prepare electrical workshops, tools and equipment for practical teaching sessions.
• Assist teaching staff with the delivery of practical lessons.
• Support students undertaking practical activities under the supervision of lecturers.
• Prepare materials and resources for practical classes.
• Maintain workshops and construction areas to a high standard.
• Ensure equipment is safe, operational and fit for purpose.
• Manage stock control, asset registers and workshop inventories.
• Complete administrative tasks efficiently, including statutory returns and record keeping.
• Contribute to a safe, organised and professional learning environment.
