Job summary

Whitgift School in South Croydon is seeking a self-employed, part-time Cello teacher to join the Music Department from October 2026. The role is term-time only and reports to the Director of Music.

We welcome applications from candidates with strong cello teaching experience and a passion for developing young musicians. The post involves teaching pupils aged 10–18, coordinating with the department, and supporting school safeguarding commitments.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching cello in a school setting.
• Ability to work on a self-employed, part-time, term-time basis.
• Strong communication with students, staff and parents.

Responsibilities

• Teach cello to boys aged 10–18 within the Music Department.
• Prepare ensembles and chamber groups as required by the curriculum.
• Collaborate with the Director of Music and other staff.
