We are seeking an experienced Tendering Engineer to join our team, supporting high-value mechanical packages on complex pharmaceutical projects. This role will play a critical part during the pre-construction phase, ensuring technically sound, commercially competitive, and strategically aligned tender submissions.
The successful candidate will collaborate with design consultants, vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams to deliver comprehensive technical and commercial solutions that meet our clients' expectations and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the pre-construction phase for mechanical works on pharmaceutical projects
- Manage and respond to technical queries arising during tendering
- Lead vendor and plant selection, evaluating technical capability, compliance, and value engineering opportunities
- Make recommendations on pre-construction strategies, sequencing, and design solutions
- Coordinate and manage specialist subcontractors contributing to the mechanical design process
- Review and ensure alignment of technical submittals, drawings, and specifications with project requirements
- Liaise closely with clients, consultants, and internal stakeholders to align tender strategy with delivery potential
- Support in the preparation of BOQs, technical documentation, risk registers, and tender clarifications
- Assist in material procurement strategy, evaluating technical compatibility and lead times
- Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating tools, procurement processes, and supplier relationships
Key Requirements
- Proven experience as a Tendering Engineer, Estimator, or Pre-Construction Engineer in the mechanical contracting sector
- Background working on pharmaceutical or cleanroom environments preferred
- Strong technical knowledge of mechanical building services systems (HVAC, chilled water, process piping, etc.)
- Familiar with pharma standards, GMP compliance, and technical documentation requirements
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical designs, specifications, and project documentation
- Proficient in working with design consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers during bid phases
- Strong commercial acumen and communication skills
- Engineering degree or relevant technical qualification in mechanical building services
