We are currently experiencing rapid growth, we are seeking a driven and detail-oriented Tendering Engineer to join our team in a remote capacity.

Role Overview

As a Tendering Engineer, you will be responsible for preparing competitive and technically sound tender submissions for a wide range of electrical and projects. This home-based role requires a self-motivated individual who can manage tendering processes from initial enquiry through to final submission, liaising with internal teams, suppliers, and clients to ensure timely and accurate delivery of proposals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review incoming enquiries and tender documents to determine project requirements, scope, and feasibility.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and commercial proposals for projects including LV/HV electrical systems, renewable energy, and power distribution.
  • Conduct site assessments (where required) in collaboration with operations or project managers.
  • Liaise with procurement to obtain accurate supplier and subcontractor quotations.
  • Evaluate technical and commercial risks and propose value engineering solutions where possible.
  • Prepare and present final tender submissions, including technical documentation, pricing schedules, and compliance information.
  • Maintain accurate records of tender progress, submissions, and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with project delivery teams to provide handovers of successful tenders.
  • Keep up-to-date with industry standards, legislation, and market pricing trends.

Key Requirements

  • Degree or HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering or relevant equivalent.
  • Proven experience in tendering/estimating in a construction or engineering environment (preferably power, utilities, or renewables).
  • Strong understanding of electrical infrastructure (LV/HV systems, switchgear, cabling, etc.).
  • Excellent analytical, numeracy, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and estimating software tools
  • Ability to manage multiple tenders under tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Self-disciplined, highly organised, and able to work independently from a remote location.
  • Good sense of humour and a team player
  • Familiarity with NEC and JCT contract forms.
  • Experience with renewable technologies or energy efficiency projects.
  • Membership with a professional engineering body (IET, CIBSE, etc.) is an advantage.
