Job summary

RGB is seeking a Senior Temporary Works Engineer for a permanent post in Central London. The role focuses on designing and assessing temporary works, leading a small team, and delivering calculations and drawings to current standards.

You will collaborate with site crews and external parties to ensure safe, practical solutions, with opportunities to work on significant UK projects in the capital.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in temporary works design.
• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent).
• Chartered or working towards Chartered status with a relevant professional institution (e.g., ICE or IStructE).
• Strong understanding of Eurocodes, British Standards, and temporary works procedures.
• Proficiency in structural analysis software.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and assessment of temporary works, including falsework, formwork, access platforms, propping, hoardings, excavation support, and crane bases.
• Oversee a team producing detailed design calculations, drawings, and technical documentation in accordance with current codes, standards, and project requirements.
• Liaise with site teams, project engineers, and external stakeholders to develop safe, practical, and economical solutions.
• Undertake site visits and inspections to monitor the implementation of temporary works and provide technical support during construction.
• Manage the approval process for temporary works, including preparation and presentation of design briefs and design risk assessments.
• Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations, health and safety legislation, and relevant quality assurance procedures.
• Assist in the development of standard temporary works solutions and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Mentor and support more junior engineers and technicians as required.
