Job description

Building a sustainable tomorrow

We are seeking an experienced Temporary Works Coordinator to join us at Devonport Royal Dockyard, Plymouth, where we are the preferred contractor for heavy civil engineering construction in and around the Royal Navy dockyard. Joining the design/engineering team, you will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of Temporary Works on one of the major ongoing projects in the dockyard.

Due to the nature of work at Devonport, BPSS/SC clearance is required. Only candidates holding NATO member passports and who have lived in the UK for more than 3 years can be considered.

Your mission

As a Temporary Works Coordinator, your responsibilities will include:

  1. Coordinating Temporary Works between site teams and designers.
  2. Reviewing TW design briefs to ensure suitability for project requirements and managing submission processes.
  3. Managing Temporary Works through design, approval, implementation, use, and dismantling.
  4. Liaising with multiple design houses.
  5. Ensuring site implementation aligns with approved designs.
  6. Conducting site inspections and issuing TW Permits.
  7. Demonstrating commitment to health, safety, environmental, and quality policies.
  8. Developing awareness of SHE hazards and minimizing risks.
  9. Managing and coordinating Temporary Works Supervisors.
  10. Ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and company policies.
  11. Providing support and mentoring to team members.
Who are we looking for?
  • A degree in civil engineering or a related field is desirable.
  • Professional qualifications such as BSc, BA, BEng, MEng, or membership in professional bodies like IStructE, ICE, CIOB are preferred.
  • Experience overseeing diverse Temporary Works schemes, ideally as a TWC or TWS.
  • Experience in design, engineering management, and major infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of Temporary Works management procedures and structural steel buildings.
