Job summary

Service Care Solutions are recruiting on behalf of a local authority in Worcestershire for a Chief Accountant to join the team on a temporary basis. You will lead the preparation and delivery of the council's annual Statements of Accounts, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and statutory deadlines.

Qualifications

• Must be a fully CCAB-qualified accountant with post-qualification experience.
• Proven experience producing Statements of Accounts and managing budgets.
• Experience leading teams and delivering results to deadlines.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation and delivery of annual Statements of Accounts for the councils.
• Oversee treasury management, balance sheet control, and asset registers; manage revenue and capital budgets.
• Manage and motivate Technical Accounts, Systems and Reconciliations Teams with strong financial controls.
• Collaborate with external auditors, senior leadership and service managers on budgeting and compliance.
