Job summary

Quantinuum is seeking an Assistant Accountant to cover a 12- to 15-month maternity leave in Cambridge. The role supports day-to-day transactions, month-end activities, and reporting within a collaborative finance team.

Responsibilities include purchase ledger, expense management, month-end close, and general finance support. Strong Excel skills and attention to detail are essential for success in a multi-currency environment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in an Assistant Accountant or Accounts Assistant role.
• Strong understanding of accounts payable, expenses and bank reconciliations.
• Experience supporting month-end close.
• Strong Excel skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work to deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience working to month-end deadlines.
• Knowledge of accounting principles and finance processes.

Responsibilities

• Process supplier invoices and approvals.
• Monitor and process purchase orders; prepare supplier payments.
• Reconcile supplier statements and manage expense payments.
• Perform bank reconciliations and assist cash flow management.
• Prepare accruals and prepayments; assist with month-end close.
• Maintain fixed asset registers and assist with period-end reporting.
• Raise sales invoices and manage finance inboxes.
• Support ongoing process improvements and IT/system enhancements.
