About us

Lakshmi Narayana Trust is a Hindu Religious charity that runs a very big temple (Sri Mahalakshmi Temple) in London for the Goddess Sri Mahalakshmi and Lord Sri Narayanar. The devotees visit the temple from all over the UK, Europe and also from all over the world. The temple also has Sri Hanuman and a number of other deities. The temple provides free food (annadhanam/prasadham) to the devotees in the afternoon and evening and we offer neivedhyam to the deities three times a day.

Remuneration

The candidate will be paid an annual salary of £23,700.00 for 36 hours of work per week. We comply with the National Minimum Wage regulations and we also provide holiday pay and other benefits according to the laws of the UK.

Job Description

We urgently need a Temple Madappalli Cook to prepare annadhanam, prasadham and neivedhyam in a traditional way to offer to the Gods and also to the devotees and staff.

The Temple Madappalli Cook is important for the Hindu temple as food is prepared in a religious way and the madappalli cook is qualified in a spiritual manner to prepare the annadhanam, prasadham and neivedhyam. The Temple Madappalli cook will be in charge of the temple’s kitchen. The Temple Madappalli cook is required to prepare Neivedhyam Prasadham to the deities in the morning, afternoon and evening and also cook strictly vegetarian food/prasadham to the devotees and staff. The Temple Madappalli cook should render help to the Senior Priests on very important religious pooja services performed in the temple.

The Temple Madappalli cook should manage and maintain the kitchen and ensure that everything including the temple main hall is kept tidy and also adhere to food, health and safety rules.

The Temple Madappalli cook is required to assist with kitchen duties commensurate with their role and help in cleaning all utensils for cooking and also help in serving food to the devotees according to Hindu religious rules.

  • Candidates should affirm their faith as a Hindu as the job involves assisting in worship and preparing food in a traditional way to offer to deities and devotees.
  • Candidates should have sufficient training and experience under a senior madappalli cook.
  • Candidates should be willing to accept both Saiva and Vaishnava traditions within Hinduism.
  • Candidates should be more spiritual and godly and have learnt mantras and customary worshipping methods from Senior Priests.
  • At least three years’ training and experience in a similar role is essential.
