We’re delighted to be supporting a leading global property and construction consultancy. Our client is currently seeking to recruit a Senior Cost Manager, to support their team in their new Nottingham offices.

The senior cost manager will be required to challenge technical diagnosis, material specifications and scope of works liaising with contractors and the operational team to ensure the right repair is carried out at the right time and in the right.

The successful candidate will have previous cost management experience, ideally supporting a retail client, paired with excellent communication skills

  • Oversee all commercial operations related to facilities management contracts, managing valuations and ensuring financial goals are met throughout the project lifecycle
  • Monitor and report on budget spend, tracking costs across multiple contracts and identifying cost-saving opportunities for clients
  • Ensure contractors adhere to the terms outlined in facilities management contracts, and manage performance to ensure service delivery is in line with agreed standards
  • Review and validate contractor quotations, ensuring they meet compliance standards and are submitted according to client specifications
  • Address contractor queries promptly, ensuring operational issues are resolved swiftly to maintain service continuity
  • Provide expert advice on cost management within the context of facilities management, advising clients on cost-effective solutions for maintenance, repairs, and operations

Skills & Experience:

  • A relevant degree (or equivalent qualification) in Quantity Surveying, Facilities Management, or a similar discipline
  • Membership with a recognised professional body, such as RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) or BIFM (British Institute of Facilities Management), or working towards membership preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of facilities management, including building maintenance, operational management, and relevant materials or equipment
  • Strong experience in negotiating facilities management contracts with both clients and contractors, ensuring fair and efficient outcomes
  • Proven line management experience in a facilities management or cost management role, overseeing multi-site or large-scale projects
  • Exceptional attention to detail in reviewing facilities management contracts, quotations, and budgets to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Excellent communication skills, enabling clear reporting, strong client relationships, and the ability to manage and resolve contractor queries efficiently
