Key focus includes cost control, monthly valuations, and effective coordination with site teams. This hands-on role offers development into a permanent post and exposure to multiple projects within the commercial team.

Qualifications

• Proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry.
• Strong procurement experience, including subcontractor packages, tender analysis and commercial negotiations
• Experience managing projects of significant value, ideally around £5 million
• Excellent commercial awareness and cost management skills
• Ability to manage a project independently from procurement through to final account
• Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
• A proactive and hands‑on approach to project delivery
• Ability to work effectively with site teams, subcontractors and senior management

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the commercial management of a £5 million project in South East London
• Complete the outstanding procurement for the project, with approximately 30% already procured
• Manage subcontractor procurement, tendering, negotiations and appointments
• Review and negotiate subcontractor quotations to achieve the best commercial outcomes
• Manage cost control, forecasting, valuations and financial reporting
• Prepare and manage monthly applications for payment and interim valuations
• Monitor project costs, variations, compensation events and change control
• Manage subcontractor accounts, payments and final accounts
• Identify commercial risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle
• Work closely with the project management and site teams to ensure successful project delivery
• Provide commercial input and Quantity Surveyor support across additional projects as required
• Attend site four days per week and work from the Central London office one day per week
